DT has changed the total design of DT spoke ends in 2000 and they produced the hooked elbow or end of their spokes more longer. Still there is confusion in the customers why the spokes design has been changed even though there are more number of customers to the DT spoke parts.

According to the General Manager of the company, the design of the DT spokes has been changed due to the request from several of DT’s customers. The new spokes from the company is labeled by the letter R, which says that the spokes has been revised.
Problems & Solutions
The major problem with the DT spoke when used to build a wheel is that the longer spoke end extends out from the hub and can flex under heavy load, which results in the break at the bend. One solution to this problem is that, you can use a washer between the hub flange and DT spoke head, taking up the space, which prevents the spoke from flexing. The washers to the DT spokes are available from the DT spoke dealers.
Another solution to avoid this problem is to use different spokes. This is the solution implemented by most of the customers, who come across with this problem.
